inspired by Mr. Dave Mann. Im gonna provide for you all a top 10 list of books I think everyone should read. These are personal favorites and by no means will these be in most peoples "GREATEST BOOKS OF ALL TIME" list. So in no particular order here is a top ten list.

1. The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning-The best expose on grace EVER!!!! This guy gets it and attempts to help us get it too.

2. Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell- Ancient spirituality made relevant for today. Rob is definitely a student of Church history.

3. Night by Ellie Wiesel- A personal account of the holocaust by a Jewish boy. He provides us with his feelings and his faith and how it plays into his thinking. VERY POWERFUL!!!

4. Friday Night Lights by HG Bissinger-This book got me to not quit high school football. It best captures the feelings of high school football in Texas and even more in the entire south.

5. Lord of the Flies-My favorite novel ever. It shows man's hunger for power and how intense it can be.

6. The complete works of Edgar Allen Poe-Really dark stuff but it's good. He is probably my favorite poet.

7.Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis- The best Apologetical book EVER!!!

8. Letters from a Skeptic by Greg Boyd- A great series of letters that ties into a story about one mans salvation

9. Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess- A very deep theological book. Nobody thinks so but the hidden meanings are in there.

10. Screwtape Letters by C.S Lewis- A very deep book that details spritual warfare. Lewis its on how satan works so close that it's scary.

Greetings From Michigan: The Great Lake State

If Jesus were to write a song this would be it. It's by Sufjan Stevens. Its called "For the widows in paradise, for the fatherless in ypslanti"

I've have called you children
I have called you son
What is there to answer
If I'm the only one
Morning comes in Paradise
Morning comes in light
Still I must obey
Still I must invite

If there's anything say
If there's anything to do
I there's any other way
I'd do anything for you

I was dressed in embarassment
I was dressed in white
If you had a part of me
Will you take your time
Even if I come back
Even if I die
Is there some idea
To replace my life

Like a father to impress
Like a mother's morning dress
If we ever make a mess
I'll do anything for you

I have called you preacher
I have called you son
If you have a father
Or if you haven't one
I'll do anything for you
I'll do anything for you
I'll do anything for you
I'll do anything for you
I'll do anything for you

I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you
I did everything for you

Nothing Can Separate Us!!!

I realize that I talk about love alot. I feel it is always relevant though and Jesus did say it was how people would recognize us as His disciples. On wednesday I spoke to my youth group and i thought I would share it here. This world is a fallen place and fallen people living in a fallen place causes us to do fallen things. People will always hurt you. However, we continue to put our faith in people thinking that they will fill some void we have in our lives. In the end however they always fail us and cause us pain. Pain is what causes teenage girls to become anorexic and teenage boys to become suicidal. We try and fill the voids that poeple leave in our lives with things that do not satisfy is what Paul said. But there is one thing that does fill the void. Jesus love. It is the only sure thing in the world. It transcends across denominations, races, gender, and age. Jesus love fill the holes in our spirit, it heals the wounds in our heart, and ultimately makes our lives complete. NOT Perfect, but complete. Our lives will not be perfect until we see Him face to face. But, until then rest easily know that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Love is Powerless !!!

I was listening to Dr. Tony Campolo on my computer the other day and he had an idea that was revolutionary to me. It went like this: "He who loves the most has the least power." This idea comes from Niche's writings about how pwer controls the human psyche versus Freud's idea that everything is controlled sexually. He linked his idea to women in abusive relationships and why they stay in them. Love creates authority but is void of all power. Example, while she was alive more Catholics would believe what Mother Teresa said over the Pope. The Pope has all the power but Mother Teresa has all the love. Jesus understood this and said that the greatest commandment of all is to, " love God and love your neighbor as yourself " theoretically stripping yourself of all power and serving God or your neighbor around you.
